Rae REN, Senior Fashion Advisor at Louis Vuitton // LISAA Alumni
Passionate about art since childhood, Rae REN left China to study in France. Now a Senior Fashion Advisor at Louis Vuitton in Beijing, she demonstrates how studying fashion in Paris can transform a career.

A Path Between Art and Fashion
"I always dreamed of studying art in France. After a preparatory year in language at IESA, I joined the Bachelor's program in Fashion Design at LISAA Mode Paris. Graduating in the midst of the pandemic, I applied to Louis Vuitton upon returning to China. Three days later, I was contacted, and a week after that, I was interviewed. To my great surprise, thanks to my studies in France, I was directly hired as a Fashion Stylist! An incredible opportunity in such a competitive market."
A Key Role at Louis Vuitton
"Today, I lead a team of stylists dedicated to supporting VIP clients, particularly in high jewelry. My role includes creating looks for prestigious events such as the Formula 1 Grand Prix. We interpret the new season’s collections, highlighting materials and details while also training in-store advisors. On a daily basis, I manage event planning, service customization, new product presentations, and coordination with models. My experience in France allowed me to take on responsibilities quickly."
The Unique Value of Studying in France
"Sometimes people ask me why I advanced so quickly to become a Senior Stylist. My answer is always immediate: because I studied in France!
Studying in France was an invaluable opportunity. Paris had a tremendous influence on me. My rapid hiring was partly due to the fact that I speak French and understand French culture, which helps me better appreciate our products.
Beyond professionalism, aesthetic taste is crucial. The French artistic pursuit allowed me to deeply understand the essence of our brand. Intellectual exchanges with professors and classmates, as well as the Parisian lifestyle, shaped my ability to convey the spirit and culture of the brand to clients today. That is absolutely essential in my view."
Why Choose IESA and LISAA Mode Paris?
"The preparatory course at IESA was highly recommended to me for its rigorous teaching and specialized artistic vocabulary, which was very beneficial for my further studies. The art history courses held in places like the Louvre and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs were invaluable. They fill gaps for Chinese students, and this knowledge still profoundly influences my work today. For example, we often have to explain to clients the French art of living—why certain associations or arrangements are used, their historical and cultural contexts, and the lifestyle habits behind them.
In Paris, several schools offer fashion programs. I chose LISAA Mode based on teacher recommendations and after visiting the institutions. I loved LISAA’s creative and inspiring environment, which emphasizes innovation. One of my most memorable experiences was a first-year workshop where we collaborated with professionals on an Agnès B project, a typically French brand. This allowed us to deepen our understanding of essential technical aspects."
Memorable Memories in Paris
"There are so many fun memories. A fellow LISAA Mode student, who also completed the preparatory program at IESA, now works for a major brand in Shenzhen as a clothing designer. I saw him last week, and we reminisced about our student years in France. Back then, neither of us knew how to knit, and we spent an entire night learning just to finish a project! It’s so funny to think about now.
The professors had a very typical French teaching method, which left a strong impression on me. Attention to detail in garment construction was crucial, with various techniques to achieve it. Today, when I see a design detail at Louis Vuitton, I immediately think about how to execute it, which reminds me of those years of studying in Paris."
Vision and Aspirations
"The fashion industry is evolving, with an increasing focus on comfort and cultural diversity. Louis Vuitton is following this transformation by exploring new influences and pushing creative boundaries. As for me, I aspire to advance to a regional styling manager position before perhaps returning to Paris one day."
Rae REN’s journey perfectly illustrates how passion and ambition can open doors to an international career. Her path proves that by daring to step out of one's comfort zone, Paris can become much more than just a destination—it can be a true springboard to success.
