Scalight: an adjustable and dreamlike architecture
Welcoming a member of the audience but also a passer-by in Strasbourg-St-Denis, whose curiosity is piqued, unavoidably attracted by a facade that contrasts to the surrounding architecture – this deep black facade, which doesn’t appear to be brightened by light, is painted in Vanta-Black. When light hits its surface, instead of being directly reflected, it is diffused by carbon nanotubes and ends up being trapped, as if imprisoned in a "forest" of nanotubes.
Through its multifaceted experiences within the theatre, this project aspires to move the audience, to surprise them and immerse them in a new space with a simple, minimalist atmosphere that allows the light to reconstruct and animate an adjustable and dreamlike architecture.
A GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT FOR LA SCALA
Fifth year students in Interior Architecture and Design at LISAA Paris worked on the renovation project of the Parisian cafe-theatre La Scala. In collaboration with the show producer Frédéric Biessy, director of La Scala, students created a global design project, covering visual identity right up to furniture design.
