The Hotel Trade, Restaurant, Made in France course offered by LISAA Paris completes the 4th year of the Interior Architecture & Design course with a master's degree specialising in the fields of high-end hotels and accommodation, new food practices, gastronomy and local produce. As an ambassador of the French art of living, this programme draws on French know-how, recognised worldwide, to respond to multicultural and innovative projects.

WHAT CONTEXT FOR A SPECIALISATION IN HOTEL TRADE, CATERING AND MADE IN FRANCE?

What new world are we living in? How can we imagine the future of living spaces, places of exchange and encounter? Mainly oriented towards interior architecture and integrating design, this master's programme draws on French know-how, recognised worldwide, to respond to multicultural projects.

Paris, one of the European capitals of design, is the capital of the art of living and gastronomy. With its Parisian roots, LISAA Architecture d'intérieur & Design trains interior designers in the tradition of French creative culture. Drawing as much on the traditional French know-how of master craftsmen as on new materials and digital technologies, students specialise in the hotel and restaurant sector to imagine the places and services of tomorrow.

In the current global context, health insecurity is forcing us to rethink the places where people live and meet, the type of tourism is evolving towards more local travel from which new forms of accommodation, catering and entertainment are emerging; the use of spaces and the services expected by the user/customer are being reinvented.

In the context of the redevelopment of a hotel or restaurant, the interior architect/designer rethinks the space, the layouts, the circulation, designs the furniture but also intervenes on the visual identity of the place, its services offered to the customers and the related elements which serve the concept that he has defined.

The course is available in French or English.

WHAT SKILLS WILL YOU ACQUIRE?

The aim of the specialised Masters in Hotel Trade, Catering and Made in France is to prepare students to design the spaces of tomorrow, whether they are private or public, individual or collective, temporary or permanent.

Throughout the two years of training, students acquire specific skills in the management of large-scale projects based on concrete problems:

  • Characterise an interior architecture and design programme: understand the client's request, take into account the constraints (technical, regulatory, aesthetic and budgetary), set the general framework of the programme, draw up a programme.
  • Conceptualise and validate an interior architecture and design project with the client and end users.
  • Manage the implementation of an interior architecture and design project and the activities of the chosen service providers and suppliers.

This course, which provides level 7 certification, prepares you to enter the job market.

    

SUPPORT FOR PROFESSIONALIZATION

LISAA Paris Interior Architecture & Design has set up a solid programme to support students in their professionalization. Students are monitored individually by the person in charge of professionalization, a member of the school's supervisory team, who helps them find their internships and work-study contracts.

The support takes several forms: individual meetings with each student to help them specify their professional project and professionalization workshops/courses from the 3rd year onwards where students learn how to create their LinkedIn profile, write their CV and cover letter, improve their diction with the Cours Florent (workshop on public speaking), source and respond to a job offer, etc. Coaching, interview simulations and job-dating are also offered to 4th year students in their search for a professional contract or apprenticeship within the framework of work-study.

FOR WHICH PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION?

The Interior Architecture & Design course at LISAA Paris validates two areas of competence, in interior architecture and design. The Institut Développement Arts Appliqués professional certification "Interior Architect/Designer" has been renewed at level 7 by France Compétences. Any registered person will be able to obtain the certification when registering in accordance with the set procedures. The certifying nature of the training and its relevance to the needs of the labour market are recognised by the State and the European Qualifications Framework.

What does the job of interior designer specialising in hotel trade, catering, made in France consist of? The Master's degree offered by LISAA Paris aims to prepare you to design the spaces of tomorrow, whether they are private or public, individual or collective, temporary or permanent.

What does the School of Architecture programme have in store for you in this 4th year? You will take part in design workshops, learn about architectural technology and representation techniques, but you will also acquire skills in operational project management, marketing and management. You will complete a specialisation project and an internship.

LISAA's approach to teaching is geared to the progress of the student towards successful professional integration. To achieve this, it uses a variety of methods:

  • A project-based teaching method: individual or group work on real cases submitted by a partner company or on representative cases. The student presents his project report orally and in writing, accompanied by visuals and models. His or her presentation is evaluated by the trainers and or professionals from the partner company.
  • Training led by teachers who are working professionals and experts in their field.
  • Individual pedagogical follow-up allowing each student to situate him/herself in his/her progress towards the acquisition of skills and to prepare his/her project and professional integration.
  • Within the framework of the work-study programme, students benefit from support modules to help them find a company to sign a professional contract or an apprenticeship.
  • Meetings and conferences led by former students and professionals are organised at the school.
  • Internship periods are integrated into the training to allow students to develop their skills in the field.

Students are assessed throughout the course:

  • Role-playing exercises put the student in a situation of active listening and exchange with the client, allowing him/her to evaluate his/her negotiation skills in particular. 
  • An oral presentation of the project file (30 to 40 minutes)
  • The student presents his/her project with the file worked on during the year of training, before a jury composed of professionals from outside the school. The jury will assess the student's professional attitude and the quality of the project in its visual presentation, its feasibility, its realism and its risk-taking...
  • Several case studies are proposed based on a real interior architecture or design project, putting the student in the position of project manager and allowing the evaluation of his or her ability to manage the realization of a project.
  • A report on experience and professional activity is presented, linked to the work placement or work-study programme.

The teaching team is made up of working architecture and design professionals. They are constantly updating the content of their courses to keep up with the evolution of the profession and the job market.

PREREQUISITES

Initial training:

  • 5-year course: Pass an admission interview; Hold a baccalauréat.
  • 4-year course: pass an admission interview; have completed and validated a 1st year at LISAA Interior Architecture & Design or at an approved partner preparing for the title or have validated a 1st year of teaching in the field;
  • 3-year course: Pass an admission interview; Have completed and validated a 2nd year at LISAA Interior Architecture & Design or with a partner preparing for the title, or hold a level 5 title or diploma or have validated a 2nd year of teaching in the field;
  • 2-year course: Pass an admission interview; Have completed and validated a 3rd year at LISAA Interior Architecture & Design or with a partner preparing for the title, or hold a level 6 title or diploma or have validated a 3rd year of teaching in the field;
  • 1-year course: pass an admission interview; have completed and validated a 4th year at LISAA Interior Architecture & Design or at a partner company preparing for the title;

In apprenticeship or professionalization contract:

  • 1-year course: Pass an admission interview; Hold a level 6 title or diploma and have completed a 4th year of teaching in the field; Or hold a level 5 title or diploma and provide proof of 2 years of professional experience in the field.

ACCESSIBILITY FOR DISABLED PEOPLE

Any student or work-study student can ask for help from the disability advisor before or during the course to obtain advice and assistance in adapting the course, assessments and finding a host company.

Acquiring professional expertise is not only a matter of assimilating theoretical knowledge, but also of confronting this knowledge in the field. Quality professional training must allow students to explore the techniques and mechanisms involved in the professional world, whatever their specialisation, in order to present a profile in line with the requirements of employers looking for young talent.

LISAA offers a number of sandwich courses, apprenticeships and professional training contracts. Thus, students are available to companies for part of their training. Once they have graduated, they have a good level of qualification and significant professional experience which enables them to be fully operational in the structures that hire them.

LISAA's teaching teams support students in their research for work experience, particularly through a large network of partner companies, but also through the alumni network and during speed-recruiting sessions for sandwich students.

The students of LISAA Architecture d'intérieur et design Paris have once again worked in partnership with the Centre Européen d'Excellence en Biomimétisme et Innovation (CEEBIOS). This new collaboration enabled the students to study and understand the principles of biomimicry with a view to solving concrete problems. The students were able to present their creative projects, inspired by living things, to a panel of professionals.
