A CONCEPTUAL APPROACH FOCUSED ON ECO-DESIGN

At the end of the 4th year, the Interior Architect / Designer course offers a specialisation in sustainable design.

Since the first year of the programme, students have been made aware of the need to take a sustainable approach to the design of their interior architecture and/or design projects. The sustainable design specialisation allows students to strengthen their skills by taking into account environmental aspects from the conception and development of the project with the aim of reducing negative environmental impacts throughout the life cycle of the project, both architectural and design.

It aims to train responsible actors in the transformation of tomorrow's world.

Students work with partner companies or institutions on realistic or prospective projects, in an eco-design approach: CEEBIOS, L'Oréal, Cerema, Syctom....

We engage our students in the responsible posture of the designer, the designer of new spaces and products. In their projects, we ask them to provide answers to today's environmental and societal challenges.

WHAT SKILLS WILL YOU ACQUIRE?

At the end of the course, you will be able to respond to a client's request, i.e. to conceive and manage the execution of an interior architecture and/or design project by mastering all the elements that make up a project - space, furniture, product and packaging, service, interfaces, brand, digital communication:

Analyse and problematise a client's request, then identify the project's constraints and propose an interior architecture and design programme with a schedule and estimate.
Conceptualise a solution by identifying trends and innovations and validate with the client.
Manage the implementation of an interior architecture and design project and the activities of the selected service providers and suppliers.

HOW DOES THE MASTER'S DEGREE IN INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE & SUSTAINABLE DESIGN AT LISAA PARIS WORK?

The LISAA Paris Interior Architect & Designer course begins with a first year / integrated preparatory course. It can also be integrated in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th year and offers a focus on sustainable design at the end of the 4th year.

Thus :

The first 3 years of the generalist curriculum will have given you a school bachelor's degree at the end of the 3rd year, but will also have made you aware of the need to take a sustainable approach to the conception of your interior architecture and design projects.
In the 4th year, the sustainable design specialisation begins. This allows you to strengthen your skills by taking into account environmental aspects from the design and development of the project with the aim of reducing negative environmental impacts throughout their life cycle.
The 5th year can be done on a sandwich course.

The course is available in French or English.

Compulsory internships will take place in the 3rd and 4th years. However, it is possible (and encouraged) to do internships in the 1st or 2nd year.

SUPPORT FOR PROFESSIONALIZATION

LISAA Paris Interior Architecture & Design has set up a solid programme to support students in their professionalization. Students are monitored individually by the person in charge of professionalization, a member of the school's supervisory team, who helps them find their internships and work-study contracts.

The support takes several forms: individual meetings with each student to help them specify their professional project and professionalization workshops/courses from the 3rd year onwards where students learn how to create their LinkedIn profile, write their CV and cover letter, improve their diction with the Cours Florent (workshop on public speaking), source and respond to a job offer, etc. Coaching, interview simulations and job-dating are also offered to 4th year students in their search for a professional contract or apprenticeship within the framework of work-study.

FOR WHICH PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION?

The Interior Architecture & Design course at LISAA Paris validates two areas of competence, in interior architecture and design. The Institut Développement Arts Appliqués professional certification "Interior Architect/Designer" has been renewed at level 7 by France Compétences. Any registered person will be able to obtain the certification when registering in accordance with the set procedures. The certifying nature of the training and its relevance to the needs of the labour market are recognised by the State and the European Qualifications Framework.

LISAA's teaching methods are geared towards the student's progress for a successful professional integration. To achieve this, it uses a variety of methods:

A project-based teaching method: individual or group work on real cases proposed by a partner company or representative cases. The student presents his project report orally and in writing, accompanied by visuals and models. His or her presentation is evaluated by the trainers and or professionals from the partner company.
Training led by teachers who are working professionals and experts in their field.
Individual pedagogical follow-up allowing each student to situate him/herself in his/her progress towards the acquisition of skills and to prepare his/her project and professional integration. As part of the work-study programme, students benefit from support modules to help them find a company to sign a professional or apprenticeship contract.

Meetings and conferences led by former students and professionals are organised at the school.
Internship periods are integrated into the training to allow students to develop their skills in the field.

Students are assessed throughout the course:

Assessments are made on a continuous basis throughout the school year: all the subjects taught are assessed in the form of files, oral presentations, MCQs, etc.
End-of-semester assessments are used to evaluate the student's progress and to validate the semester and the passage to the next year.

The assessment for graduation includes the following elements:

Role-playing exercises that put the student in a situation of active listening and exchange with the client, enabling the student's negotiation skills to be assessed.
An oral presentation of the project file (30 to 40 minutes)
The student presents his/her project with the file worked on during the year of training, before a jury composed of professionals from outside the school. The jury will assess the student's professional attitude and the quality of the project in its visual presentation, its feasibility, its realism and its risk-taking...
Several case studies are proposed based on a real interior architecture or design project, putting the student in the position of project manager and allowing the evaluation of his or her ability to manage the realization of a project.
A report on experience and professional activity is presented, linked to the work placement or work-study programme.

Acquiring professional expertise is not only a matter of assimilating theoretical knowledge, but also of confronting this knowledge in the field. Quality professional training must allow students to explore the techniques and mechanisms involved in the professional world, whatever their specialisation, in order to present a profile in line with the requirements of employers looking for young talent.

LISAA offers a number of sandwich courses, apprenticeships and professional training contracts. Thus, students are available to companies for part of their training. Once they have graduated, they have a good level of qualification and significant professional experience which enables them to be fully operational in the structures that hire them.

LISAA's teaching teams support students in their research for work experience, particularly through a large network of partner companies, but also through the alumni network and during speed-recruiting sessions for sandwich students.
